Gelderland is one of the twelve provinces of the Netherlands and is well known as a sports province. Not only they host the Volleyball World Championship for Women in 2022, other major sports events like the Giro d’Italia 2016 and the BMX World Championship 2021 took place in Gelderland.

The province has fantastic sports locations, with National Olympic Training Center Papendal as the absolute highlight. Province Gelderland has two national parks: De Hoge Veluwe National Park and Veluwe Zoom National Park. In both national parks you can endlessly cycle, walk and horseback ride. You will also find a great mix of nature and culture in the main cities of Gelderland: Arnhem, Nijmegen, Ede and Apeldoorn.

Gelderland Welcomes the World

With Apeldoorn and Arnhem as host cities most games of the FIVB Volleyball World Championship for Women 2022 took place in Gelderland. All 24 participating teams of the World Championships are staying in one of the beautiful municipalities of Gelderland.
