The Volleyball Nations League is back for 2023 and ready to wow the crowds around the globe following the announcement of the host cities for next year’s eagerly anticipated competition.

Over six action-packed weeks, 16 of the world’s best volleyball teams per gender will compete in 11 of the most inspiring venues aiming to reach the promised land of the VNL Finals and with it the prize of claiming volleyball’s greatest annual trophy.

Volleyball fans in all corners of the globe will get to be part of the game with star athletes joining their countries in venues in Asia, Europe, North America and South America. From Anaheim to Ankara and Canada to Korea, the VNL promises to bring the best live sport to some of volleyball’s most passionate and biggest communities.

Preliminary rounds in the women’s competition will take place in Ankara, Türkiye; Nagoya, Japan; Hong Kong, China; Brasilia, Brazil; Suwon, Korea; Bangkok, Thailand. Meanwhile, Ottawa, Canada; Nagoya, Japan; Rotterdam, Netherlands; Orleans, France; Anaheim, California, USA and Pasay City, Philippines will host the men’s preliminaries.

“The past two editions of the VNL have been great successes and now we are gearing up to expect even bigger and brighter things from 2023 in some of the world’s best arenas fit for top-class volleyball.”

How VNL will work in 2023

The first week of preliminary round action begins for the women between 30 May and 4 June in Ankara, Türkiye, and Nagoya, Japan, while the men get under way between 6-11 June in Ottawa, Canada, and Nagoya.

Week 2 for the women kicks off 13-18 June in Hong Kong, China, and Brasilia, Brazil, with the men following two days later in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and Orleans, France.

The final, all-important week for the women starts on 27 June and runs until 2 July in Suwon, Korea, and Bangkok, Thailand, with the men complete their preliminary round stage between 4-9 July in Anaheim, California, USA, and Pasay City in the Philippines.

The VNL Finals are scheduled to take place 12-16 July for the women’s event with the men’s competition set for 19-23 July. The host cities for the VNL Finals will be announced in December.
