Anna Danesi on the attack for Monza against Novara - but her six blocks in the match were not enough to see her side through - as the Italian league heats up.

Defending champions Prosecco Doc Imoco Volley Conegliano enjoy solitude at the top of the standings in the Italian women's league after extending their winning streak to 69 matches and seeing their opponents start to drop away.

Conegliano had little difficulty on the road at Cremona's PalaRadi against Vbc Trasporti Pesanti Casalmaggiore, taking down their opponents 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-23).

Τhe continuing absence of the likes of Monica De Gennaro, Miriam Sylla and Sarah Fahr, didn't bother Conegliano, who rode on the momentum from their midweek sweep of arch rivals Igor Gorgonzola Novara as Loveth Omoruyi stepped up to contribute a match high of 14 points and earn the MVP of the match award.

But the shock of the weekend came at the Palafenera, where local side Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri stunned Unet E-Work Busto Arsizio 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 26-24) sending them crashing down from the top of the standings.

After four rounds of play Conegliano remain the sole undefeated team this season having not dropped a single set so far.

Sixteen points by USA's Alexandra Frantti (a match high shared with Busto Arsizio's Camilla Mingardi) and another 13 points each by Francesca Villani and Belgium's Kaja Grobelna saw Chieri through.

Busto Arsizio came from behind in the third set to try and keep the match going, but their only set point at 23-24 was promptly cancelled.

Meanwhile, Novara struggled to bounce back after their midweek defeat but did manage to overcome Vero Volley Monza 3-2 (33-35, 25-22, 25-18, 20-25, 15-4) on the road after a tense and epic battle but a rather underwhelming tie-break.

Novara blew a nine-point lead but were first to reach set point in the first - though failed to convert five points before Monza took charge and finished the game on back-to-back kills by Poland's Magdalena Stysiak.

Turkey's Ebrar Karakurt collected the match high of 29 points and was named MVP of the match.

Elsewhere this weekend, Savino Del Bene Scandicci thundered past Delta Despar Trentino 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-19) on the back of 11 points by Germany's Louisa Lippmann and 10 by Elena Pietrini (the only players across both sides to score in double digits) plus six of her side's 12 blocks by Sara Alberti.

And Il Bisonte of Florence recovered from a one-set deficit to take down Bosca S.Bernardo Cuneo 3-1 (23-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-18) with Sylvia Nwakalor scoring 16 points - though the match high of 17 for Cuneo came from France's Lucille Gicquel.

In other action, USA's Khalia Lanier and Russia's Tatiana Kosheleva scored 22 points each, but Volley Bergamo edged Megabox Ondulati Del Savio Vallefoglia 3-1 (27-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-16) for their first win of the season.

And Bartoccini-Fortinfissi Perugia shut out Acqua & Sapone Roma Volley Club with Valentina Diouf and Veronika Trnkova sharing top-scoring honours on 14 points each.

The League continues next weekend with Round 5 of the Regular Season, with all matches streamed live on
